Well known cafe celebrates fives-year anniversary

THE fifth anniversary of Garden Cafe in Western Road will feature flavoursome temptation from Spain, England and Switzerland...with a little Alpine Horn playing thrown in.

Sue and Alfredo Silva are inviting their customers, neighbours and friends to join in the fun next Friday and are planning delicious treats from different countries to show their appreciation for the support they get locally.

Sue said: "We will be celebrating our fifth year in Bexhill. We are having lots of eats and will be doing a special menu for lunch but also tasters for people to try such as tapas.

"We have three origins '“ Alfredo is from North West Spain, and I am Anglo-Swiss... so we have an Alpine Horn player who is going to be playing from lunchtime till 5pm '“ I'm sure people can have a go themselves if they want to try. It's got to be a first for Bexhill.

"We hope to greet as many of our customers as possible.

"We chose Bexhill years ago, long before we opened the business we said we would like to have a business here '“ particularly Western Road '“ and then it was so incredible when this place came up. It was like a dream come true. Alfredo was working for a large hotel and I was an English teacher for 25 years.

"We didn't visit any other business, or any other towns, or even any other streets.

"It was so weird really. We saw this business in the paper and thought '“ wow. We haven't looked back.

"We just make all the food we like to eat at home...hopefully the customers love it.

"Now we really want to celebrate because five years is important. In this day and age to get to five years and still loving it and hopefully making a good living is really good.

"Sometimes at lunchtime when we are packed I look around the cafe and recognise everyone in it. It is incredible."
