West Sussex hotel fire

MORE than 60 firefighters from both West Sussex and Hampshire tackled a blaze in the roof of an hotel in Trotton, near Midhurst on Monday when the hotel suffered structural damage but no-one was injured.

A fire alarm sounded at the Southdowns Hotel & Leisure Complex in Dumpford Lane, Trotton at 11.38am and firemen arrived to find a severe fire developing in the first floor and roof area of an annexe to the main hotel which had been safely evacuated by staff before the arrival of the fire service.

Although the annexe, which contains ten guest rooms was badly damaged, the main hotel building was not affected and the cause of the fire is being investigated.
