From Westfield Parish Church: The Good Friday Workshop takes place in the Parish Hall from 10am-12 noon. This is for ages 5-11, and includes arts and crafts, an egg hunt, refreshments and more, and the cost is £1.50. Easter Sunday starts with the Sunrise Service at 6.30am in the Remembrance Garden, followed by breakfast in the Parish Hall. The Easter Holy Communion and Family Service is at 10am.

New PCSO: We are fortunate as a village community to have been taken under the wing of a new and enthusiastic Police Community Support Officer, Demetrius Georghiou. With a view to being a prominent and approachable figure in our village, Deme is keen to introduce himself to village residents, parents and guardians and would be happy to say hello whilst on his rounds.

The “new” New Inn: Having personally visited on Sunday it is important that people book to eat, especially on Sunday lunchtime. The range of food available looked & tasted really good & included snacks, light bites & full meals all locally sourced (where possible) & home cooked. Westfield Horticultural Society: After last Saturday’s successful Spring Show members should now peruse the schedule for the Autumn Show. There are 8 classes for dahlias. Dahlias grow themselves and they will need to be planted soon. A trip to the garden centre can provide the correct varieties for the show even though it is some time in the future. The next Society event will be the talk by Hilary Newman about “The Small Greenhouse”. Most of us have one but are we using them efficiently?

The Friendship Club: continues to meet every other Monday in the Parish Hall from 2.00 p.m. to 3.30 p.m. where whist and bingo are enjoyed by members. Tea and biscuits are served during the afternoon. New members will be made very welcome. Subscription £5 per year. For further information please contact Jean Hobson on 753095. Westfield Scout Group: is celebrating its centenary in 2015. If you have

youngsters, boys or girls, between the ages of 6 and 13 who are looking for fun and adventure why not give Beavers, Cubs of Scouts a try. For full details contact Frances on 754548 or Rose on 754080.

Westfield Scouts: Thank you to everyone who came to support the Westfield Scout Group Duck Race in very windy, damp and muddy conditions. At least the wind helped the ducks move quickly down the stream! The number of people was lower this year because of the poor weather, so we were pleased to make a profit of £144 for Scout Group funds.

Westfield WI: Westfield Women’s Institute meets monthly in the Parish Hall at 2.15 pm. New members are warmly welcomed at meetings on the second Tuesday of the month. More information from W.I. President Julie Lloyd on 01424 754013.

Westfield Newsagent: is now a collection point for myHermes parcels. This is very useful for sending and collecting parcels. Please pop in for more information. They are also collecting the supermarket vouchers on behalf of the village school, just drop them in.

Westfield School Governor: A number of vacancies have recently arisen within our Governing Body, including a Parent Governor role and newly created ‘Co-Opted’ roles. Governors play a critical role in keeping the governing body aware of the views of parents and the local community. Serving as part of a team and an enthusiasm for the work of the school is paramount to a successful governing body. Pass and Move Easter: runs football coaching sessions every Saturday at St Leonard’s Academy from 9-10.30am (£3.50) or 9-11.30am (£5) and in Westfield during the week & over school holidays. This is your website, set up to serve the village community, and your contributions, news and views are needed. Rye and District Association of the National Trust: Thursday 16th April Heather Woodward joins us to talk about the life of Mrs Ronald Greville and how she made Polesden Lacey ‘the’ place to be invited. All Talks will be at Brede Village Hall commencing at 2.00 pm. The entrance fee of £3 (members) and £4 (non-members) includes refreshments after the talk. Thursday 30th April You should already have booked for this production of Alan Bennett’s The History Boys at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley.
