There will be a fete meeting in the Community Hall dining room on April 16 at 7pm for anyone interested in either helping in any way at all or with ideas about what they would like to see on the day. It will be an informal fun meeting, so please come along. The more the merrier!

Westfield Community Speed Watch volunteers have completed their first traffic monitoring session. In the hour and a half session they recorded the details of four speeding motorist, and have passed on the information to the Police. There are more sessions planned in the next few weeks and we hope that their visible presence will encourage more drivers to comply with the speed limit in Westfield. If you would like to help it is not too late to join. For more information please contact Jackie on 01424 755210.

Westfield residents need to be aware that Battle Fire Station is threatened with being downgraded. There is a meeting at Langton Hall in Battle on April 7 at 7.30pm when members of the Fire Authority will be present to ‘hear’ concerns. It is imperative that there is a BIG turnout (a march down the High Street from the Fire Station has been proposed) - supported by local police, by the way - in order to enhance media attention and show that people are passionate that the station remains in Battle. Please make your voice heard by visiting www.esfrs.org/publicconsultation, where an on line questionnaire can be completed which lodges your objections. You can also visit #StandUp4Battle (Twitter) or contact your local Fire Authority Rother members John Barnes ([email protected]) and Stuart Earl ([email protected]). The campaign is being organised by Helen Ashenheim, who will be delighted to talk to you on 07791 277921 or 01580 881813. In particular, there are considered to be many errors of fact in the Fire Authority’s consultation document.
