Family Fun Day. Date: Sat, 17/08/2013 - 10:00. Westfield Free Family Fun Day takes place at the Churchfield play area. Bring family and friends for a fantastic day of fun, including a climbing wall, crafts, mini-golf, bouncy castle etc. Bring some change for the tombola, tuck shop and BBQ. Watch out for details on posters.

The Friendship Club is now having its summer break and will return on Monday 16th September with some more outings to look forward to. Meetings are at the Parish Hall 2 p.m. every other Monday.Future dates 16th, 30th September, October 14th 28th, November 11th 25th with our Christmas party on 9th December.

Do you use the bus service? East Sussex need your views, and is carrying out a whole county consultation out at present which concerns the future of all supported bus services in East Sussex. The consultation is available at https://consultation.eastsussex.gov.uk/economy-transport-environment/supportedbuses. You can also pick up a form on your local bus or by contacting the Highways Contact Centre on 0345 60 80 193. The consultation ends on 17 August.

They are presently putting things in place to ensure both local football opportunities at all levels & for all ages with the 1st team playing in Senior Football. Westfield Golf Fellowship. Their last planned event was on July 22nd – The Captains Bucket – at Seddlescombe GC was won by Ben Bandit with Chris Smith runner up. For more information please contact [email protected]

The F3 women’s group had a presentation regarding the St Michael’s Hospice Neighbours campaign publicised in the village earlier in the year. This scheme is looking for people to volunteer their time by giving a few hours a week, fortnight or month on a day and time that suits them, within their local area, to help with everyday tasks such as putting out the washing, walking the dog, cooking and daily chores – or just chatting over a cuppa. Sainsbury’s vouchers for Westfield School can be dropped into Westfield Newsagents where Richard & Dan will happily collect them from you.

The Westfield HUB meets at ‘The Plough’ on Fridays from 10am to 12noon. A warm and friendly welcome and a decent cup of tea/coffee are assured at the Hub every Friday morning between 10am and midday.’

Rye and District (inc Westfield) Lions are putting together the finishing touches to the arrangements for the Annual Rye Raft Race and Fete, which Rye Lions have organised for 35 years. This year it takes place on the Bank Holiday Sunday, 25 August, with the fete opening at noon and the Raft Race starting at 2.30pm with rafts assembling from 1pm. There has been considerable interest from groups wishing to compete this year. There is still time to enter a raft and anyone interested should contact Bob Harvey on 01424 751059. Stall space at the Fete is almost full, but if any organisation wishes to fill the last few spaces they should contact Reg Emson on 01797 224174 as soon as possible.

Rye and District Association of the National Trust. On Wednesday 11 September – Navigating the Wey in Surrey. In the company of a friendly and informative guide we will explore the old Surrey iron villages, visit Guildford, enjoy a cruise on the River Wey Navigation and stop for tea at the beautiful stately home where the Queen Mother spent her honeymoon. Price: £36.00pp. (All refreshments are at own expense). All outings are subject to a minimum number participating and if we do not reach this figure outings have to be cancelled and members are disappointed. There is an exhibition of photographs by Dr Douglas Moss, of the churches of Romney Marsh at the St Mary’s Centre, Lion Street, Rye from August 5th to the 10th. Entrance is free & the hall is open from 10:00 – 4pm.
