Westfield player collapses during session
A football player collapsed during a training session last night (Wednesday, November 4).
The man, in his 20s, was with his teammates from Westfield Football Club’s 3rd team at Claremont School in Ebden’s Hill, St Leonards, when the incident happened.
The Observer understands that the man collapsed suddenly and several people tried to resuscitate him and administer CPR before paramedics arrived.
He was successfully resuscitated but was rushed to the Conquest Hospital.
A spokesman for South East Coast Ambulance Service said paramedics were called at around 8.15pm.
He said: “We received reports of a man in his 20s who had collapsed and was struggling to breathe. He then stopped breathing and we sent an ambulance crew, together with a car to the scene. The man was resuscitated before being taken to the Conquest. He was still in a life-threatening condition and taken in as a priority case under advanced life support.”
