Services at the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist on Sunday, August 26 are Holy Communion (1662) at 8.00 am and Family Service at 10.30am.

Please remember gifts of non-perishable food for Family Support Work Outreach, which will be collected on the fourth Sunday from now on instead of the first. There will be Holy Communion as usual at 9.30am on Wednesday.

There will be a barbecue at Gorse Cottage following the Family Service, followed by an afternoon of crafts. You should have signed up for this last Sunday, but it may still be possible to add your name if you phone Dawn today.

The Westfield Parent and Toddler Group would like more families to join it on Friday afternoons from 7 September (term time only) from 1.15-3pm in the Parish Hall, apart from the 3rd Friday in the month when the Hall is not available.  The Health Visitor visits the Toddler Group on the 1st Friday of each month, and also during school holidays, and the Toy Library attends fortnightly. The Hub is holding an indoor/outdoor Boot Sale in the Community Dining Hall and car park on Saturday, August 25. An opportunity to sell all those surplus bits & bobs in your attic and garage! The Westfield Hub continues to meet at ‘The Plough’ on Fridays from 10am-12 noon for coffee, chat, book exchange and use of computers

The Westfield Horticultural Society Autumn Show takes place on Saturday 8 September at 2.30pm in the Community Hall.  There will be horticultural exhibits for fruit, vegetables, flowers and floral art, and other exhibits in art, handicrafts, home produce and photography classes. There are also several classes for junior entrants. You don’t have to be a gardening expert or a master chef to enter; it is all about having a bit of fun and if you win a class or maybe more to win a trophy then what better reward!  Show Schedules are available on line at www.WestfieldHorticulturalSociety.org.uk and from Archers and Westfield News.

There will be another Jumble Sale in aid of Cancer Research (myeloma research), organized by the friends of Wendy Pemberton in her memory. This will be on Saturday, September 15 at 2pm in Westfield Community Hall. Donations of jumble are welcome at the hall from 12 noon, but no computer monitors, TVs, or items bigger than a chair.

Battle Area Community Transport have confirmed that passengers do not have to book a seat for the Wednesday service from Westfield to Sainsbury’s, and that the normal bus service at 11.12am is boarded just by waiting at the stop.
