Services at the Parish Church of St. John the Baptist on Sunday, July 22 are Holy Communion (1662) at 8.00 am and Family Service at 10.30 am.

There will be Holy Communion as usual at 9.30am on Wednesday.

On Thursday, July 26, the F3 Women’s Group celebrates the end of term with a barbecue and strawberries at 6.30pm at ‘Greensleeves’. Please ring 01424 752052 or 752894 to book your food!

Please join the working party to tidy the Remembrance Garden tomorrow, Saturday July 21, from 9.30am. You will need to bring your own gardening tools.

The Wednesday Bible Study meets at Cockmartins Farm on Wednesday, 25 July at 7.30pm. All are welcome.

The first joint service with Westfield and Guestling congregations is next Sunday, July 29 at 10.30am at Westfield. There will be no NTS on that day.

Have you remembered to renew your Westfield Draw membership for 2012/2013? New members are welcome, and all profits are used by the WCA to support village organisations. You can leave your £10 cash or cheque to WCA c/o Westfield News, or contact Pauline as above.

The WCA Hall is available for booking during the school holiday – badminton etc. might be the perfect solution to entertaining the children if it is still raining! Book through the Manager, Rachel Pritchard, on 01424 754446. There is also a new ‘Legs, Bums and Tums’ class in the WCA Hall on Mondays from 7.15-8.15pm. Ring 07849 819612 for more information.

A Jazz Picnic will be held from 11.30am on Sunday, July 22 at 90 Westfield Lane, with the Sussex Jazz Kings entertaining you with traditional jazz. The event is set in stunning surroundings on the outskirts of St. Leonards. Take your own chair, picnic and drinks and sit by the lake and enjoy the day. Ample free parking is provided. Tickets are £10 in advance or £12 on the day. This is organised by Senlac Rotary Club in aid of local children’s charities. Ring 01424 756990 for more information

The new bus timetables mean that Westfield buses no longer go near Sainsbury’s for much of the day. Remember that the Battle Community service bus runs a service at 11.12am from Westfield to Sainsbury’s on Wednesdays, returning from there at 1.15pm. You need to book in advance on 01424 772001, Monday to Friday 9-12am, and bus passes can be used. Of course, it should not be forgotten that there is a free bus to Tesco on Tuesdays leaving at 9.54am, and that the daytime 341 bus now stops near Asda.

The Youth Club meets in the Parish Hall on Wednesday, July 25 from 6.30 to 8.00 pm. New members aged 8 to 16 are welcomed. To find out more, e-mail Dan at [email protected] or telephone 07899 917952. Remember that the Free Fun Day takes place on Monday, August 6 from 10am-2pm on the school field. This will be a fantastic day with a climbing wall, crafts, mini-golf, bouncy castle and a bungee run. Refreshments and barbecue will be available.
