Rye and District Lions Club have donated £200 to Westfield Playgroup towards a greenhouse that they are buying to enable the children to grow tender plants and vegetables.

The playgroup already has a garden where the children grow flowers and vegetables and the staff are extending the garden, not only to accommodate the new greenhouse, but also to include a natural area where the children can see wild plants and the fauna that would inhabit such an area.

Sarah Burnage, the Playgroup Manager, was delighted with the donation from Rye Lions and she and her colleagues visited the Lions recently to explain how they proposed to use their donation.

Westfield Playgroup meets in Westfield Church Hall from Monday to Friday.
