Whale is still there!

PLANS to remove the badly-decomposed body of a 50ft whale washed up on Camber Sands beach have been put off.

It was found in shallow water 200 yards up the beach on Thursday.

It was hoped it could be removed on Friday but Rother District Council was still looking for a contractor to cut the carcass into manageable pieces.

Dover Coastguard said gale force nine winds meant removal might not be feasible until the weather improved.

Tides moved the animal 200 yards further up the beach overnight and it has now been fenced off to keep members of the public away.

A spokesman for the council said the whale would be moved as quickly as possible and taken to a landfill site.
