Whatlington

HELLO: What a wash out bank holiday Monday turned out to be despite the forecast of good weather but at least Sunday was a beautiful day. The bluebells and spring flowers in the hedgerows look stunning. Despite the stormy black skies we have been fortunate to see such startling rainbows over the weekend.

PARISH COUNCIL: The next Whatlington Parish Council meeting takes place on Thursday 19 May at 7.30 pm at the Village Hall. Street naming will be part of the agenda and all are welcome.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH: Don’t forget if you would like to join this scheme please contact Paul Wood on 01424870381 or Simon White on 014240870027.

VILLAGE HALL EVENT: The planning for the Twilight Serenade for villagers on 28 May with the Bodiam Concert Band is well under way. For more information and tickets contact Annette McBride 01424871629. All proceeds will go to the village hall fund.

PARISH CHURCH NEWS: The church service at Whatlington next Sunday will be our monthly All Age service, held at 10.30am and followed with refreshments, as always we extend a warm welcome to all comers.

Looking further ahead, we have a ‘Songs of Praise’ service planned for May 22nd at 6pm, a date for the diary!

Volunteers are also being sought to help maintain the church yard. Yvonne Underhill is co-ordinating this on behalf of the church council. If you can spare a few hours please email her via the church website www.achurchnearyou.com and click on Diocese of Chichester and then Whatlington. All help will be gratefully received.
