Whatlington

Village Hall: The Village Hall Committee met on Monday, September 28th to discuss - among many other things - the next fundraising event, which will be our Festive Season Supper, to be held in the Village Hall on Friday, December 11th, at 7.30 pm. A delicious hot meal will be on offer, details of which will be announced nearer the time. There will also be a raffle with excellent prizes; a table quiz for your entertainment, and a caption competition. Soft drinks will be provided, but please bring your own wine. Tickets will be £10.00 a head Last year’s pre-Christmas event proved to be very popular, and a good deal of interest has already been shown in this one, so as places are limited to 50, it would be a good idea to book a place as soon as possible if you would like to come. Please ring Annette McBride on 01424 871629 to reserve a place.

Harvest Festival: Harvest Festival at Whatlington church will be at the different time of 11.00 am on Sunday, October 11th, when we will have a traditional Harvest service and hymns, followed at 12.00 noon with a Harvest Lunch, which will be served in the church. Car parking as usual will be available nearby at the village hall car park.

The PCC would like to invite people from the village to come and join us for this special service and to bring gifts of food, tins, etc. These will be taken after the service to the Seaview Project for the disadvantaged in St. Leonards.

There will be a modest charge for the Harvest Lunch and we look forward to seeing friends old and new for this service where we remember and say thank you to God for all the gifts of His creation.

This coming Sunday, October 4th, the service will be at our usual time of 09.30 am.

The Royal Oak: Maria writes that there will be a Hallowe’en Party on Friday, October 30th at The Royal Oak from 8.00 pm, with a free buffet and a disco, open to both adults and children. Come along and have some spooky fun!
