Whatlington

Church News: Next Sunday, December 7th at our 09.30 service we have a special guest preacher, Sally Muggeridge; the service will be led by our Priest-in-Charge, Rev. Kevin Mepham. Sally is a licenced Reader in the Church of England and is also President of the Malcolm Muggeridge Society. The late Malcolm Muggeridge lived in Whatlington at the Mill House and lies buried in our churchyard. Sally is Malcolm’s niece and will be bringing a new Organ edition of the recently published new Hymns Ancient & Modern to present to the church on behalf of the Society. We shall be serving light refreshments after the service and invite people to come and join us for this special event.

Carol service: The following Sunday, Dec. 14th we will be holding a Christmas Carol Service at 10.30am, this will feature carols interspersed with Bible readings. A family friendly service for people of all ages, whether regular church goers or not we look forward to welcoming a good number of people, as we did last year with an attendance of 50 plus. The Carol service will also be followed by light refreshments. Car parking for both these services will be available at the nearby village hall, less than a five minute walk away.

Christmas Supper Event at the Hall: Tonight!! Friday December 5th at 7.00 pm: We will be hosting a delicious, home-made, hot meal at the Village Hall this evening, at £10.00 a head to include soft drinks, but please bring your own wine. If you decide you would like to come please give Annette (01424 871629) or Patricia (07779 321240) a quick call; there will be lots to eat so we can probably still fit you in and it will be a most festive evening, including a Quiz and a very splendid Raffle!
