The church restoration has now received a Commendation certificate from English Heritage in their Angel Awards and some of us will be attending the ceremony in London on Monday Nov. 3rd. Village Hall: Don’t forget the pre-Christmas Event taking place at the Village Hall on December 5th! We hope to see lots of people from our community, and their families and friends, at this fun supper event, which will be £10.00 per ticket. Book your place on line at www.whatlingtonvh.org, or by ringing Annette (871629) or Patricia (870549). We have a Christmas Quiz lined up, and an excellent raffle is taking shape, as well as a few possible stalls and some seasonal musical entertainment! More on this anon!

Meanwhile, we are also doing all we can to garner in other funds for the Hall’s repair and refurbishment programme, which includes repairing the flat roof, upgrading the electrical installations, and possibly installing solar panels, if funds permit, as well as generally redecorating. In addition to the extra funds most generously offered us by the Parish Council, District Councillor David Vereker suggested at their recent meeting that we might also apply to Rother District Council, who give grants from time to time for the repair or refurbishment of village halls. In consequence we are in the process of making just such an application, and have already sent one in to UK Power Networks, under their Power of Giving scheme. If either of these applications bear fruit, we will be able to proceed more swiftly with our proposed repairs, to the benefit and satisfaction of all who use the Hall!
