The Tunbridge Wells & District Rail Travellers’ Association represents those whose journey includes the Battle to High Brooms stretch of the line.

It played a leading role in the battle to persuade Southeastern to give a goodwill payment to those season ticket holders affected by this winter’s severely disrupted services.

It featured heavily in local media coverage of the disruption and was in direct contact with senior representatives of the railway company.

But it has been representing the views of local rail users for many years, campaigning for:

Lower or zero fare increases

Longer and more frequent trains

Later services from London

Improvements at rail stations.

TWDRTA meets regularly with local authorities and other transport decision makers, as well as with senior managers from Southeastern and Network Rail.

Association chair Bob Baker says: “Everyone who travels on Southeastern trains has an opinion about the service.

“But those opinions are more powerful if they are part of a collective voice.

“The more people who join the association, the more influence we can have to improve the lot of rail travellers from Whatlington.”
