Whatlington

Alex Goodman, The Royal Oak

Calling all Whatlington residents - your Village Hall needs YOU!! The Village Hall Committee are looking for community minded volunteers to join the committee and help look after and raise funds for the upkeep of the hall. It is a very rewarding job that involves a short meeting about every six weeks plus helping to organise fund-raising events like jumble sales and the annual village fete. It is a great way to get involved in your local community, particularly if you are new to Whatlington and would like to meet other residents. If you would like more information, please call Angie on 01424 870087.

There are two parties going on at The Royal Oak towards the end of August - so something for everyone! Our Summer party, BBQ and Boules competition is on the Bank Holiday Monday 26th from midday and in previous years has been a really fantastic day. The Boules tournament is a pairs competition and there is no experience necessary, and you can borrow boules on the day. If you would like more information please call 01424 870492. If an evening do is more your thing, then why not come along to our Fancy Dress cocktail party on Saturday 31st August from 8pm? The fancy dress theme is “come as a film title” - how original can you be?

Quiz Night at The Royal Oak is still every Thursday from 8pm - it tends to get very busy so it’s worth calling and booking a table if your team are coming. Then the last Friday of the month is Irish Music Night when we all enjoy live music around the bar from 8.30pm - again, it’s wise to book a table if you know you’re coming, call 01424 870492.
