St Mary Magdalene Parish Church service on Sunday 18th November will be Holy Communion at 8.30am in the village hall.Everybody is welcome.

The restoration of the church continues to move slowly forward,we are currently in the last stage of the process for obtaining the final planning permission, known in the church as a Faculty, from the Diocese. The statutory notice detailing the proposed works is posted in the church notice case, much as an ordinary planning application notice, anyone interested in seeing the plans should contact one of the churchwardens on 772535 or 772997.

Mountfield & Whatlington primary school will have a school disco today Friday 16th November from 3.15pm to 4.45pm for pupils.

News from Alex at The Royal Oak:

Tonight (Fri 16th) is Film Club when we will be showing Woody Allen’s “Midnight in Paris” from 8pm. If you would like more details regarding the Film Club, please email [email protected].

The Royal Oak Readers will meet on Tuesday 27th November at 7.30pm, to review “Confessions of a Southern Lady” by Florence King (apologies for the mistake in last week’s column regarding the book title!).

The next Irish Music session will revert back its usual regular slot of the last Friday of the month, being 30th November - come along to hear fabulous traditional Irish tunes played by about a dozen talented musicians from 8.30pm, this will be your last chance before Christmas!.

The Village Hall Committee are holding a Christmas Fayre in the Village Hall on Saturday 8th December. There will be mulled wine, mince pies, cakes, preserves, Christmas Cards and gift ideas, plus games and a lucky dip for children!
