The children at the school settled into a new week following the May Day Bank holiday. There seemed to be lots of energy probably because the weather was so cold they could not get outside as much as they would like. The grass has been cut on the school playing field and the trainers and pumps cleaned for the new summer athletics season. Not long to sports day during the summer season! Dates to be announced very soon by the school.

I spent most of my weekend at a football tournament in Hastings which was so cold the catering facilities claimed they sold more hot chocolates and soup that they do in the middle of winter! If you have a child who is interested in playing in a local football team from the age 6 - 12 please contact me on [email protected]. Enhanced CRB checks and full licenses by the English Football Association are in place for team coaches and training and games are either on a Saturday or Sunday morning depending on the age of the child and the team. The new season will start in September with training from August onwards.

Parish Church service (Family Service) for Sunday 13th May is 10.30 AM at the village hall. Everyone welcome.

This is always a very busy night, so put the date in your diary and please give Alex a ring on 01424 870492 if you would like to book a table to ensure you get a seat!

Another date for your diary is Saturday 9th June when we will be having another one of our wine tasting evenings at The Royal Oak. The last one was a good laugh - particularly after wine number 6 or 7 - and led to some interesting new wines finding their way onto the wine list. More details to follow in next week’s column.
