n Seventeen members were due to attend the monthly meeting of The Good Companions last Wednesday but unfortunately two could not attend because of the weather. Rosemary one of our members had chosen the venue for February but then could not come herself because of family commitments.

I have asked one of the members to write a report on what was a very nice lunch as sometimes someone else writing makes it more interesting. Last Wednesday 15 members of The Good Companions visited The Queen’s Head at Sedlescombe for lunch. The management made us more than welcome, setting out a table so that everyone could sit together to share the meal and also lighting the log fire to keep us all warm. Everyone commented on how good the food was and also the service. A cake was presented to Derek to mark his 80th birthday, which he shared with the group. Everybody thoroughly enjoyed themselves and all are looking forward to a return visit later on in the year”.

I am now putting together an intinery for the rest of the year and I am looking at venues to visit and also for guest speakers. We are a group of retired people who meet for fellowship. We do not have a committee, neither do we have membership fees. If you would like to join us please contact Hilda on 01424 777358. Not everyone attends each monthly meeting; it is entirely up to individuals to choose what they would like to attend, although on saying this we do need support to continue running this group.
