When love blossomed at the day centre ...

NEWLYWEDS Michael and June Playford were pleasantly surprised to find love at their day centre.

The couple met at the All Saints Church Hall day centre in Sidley.

Michael, 60, has been using the day centre since a stroke left him with mobility problems. He now uses a wheelchair.

June, 67, had visited the centre with her late husband John.

Michael and June became close and Michael proposed before the centre stopped for a summer break.

June agreed and the wedding took place last Saturday at the Salvation Army Hall in London Road.

The ceremony was conducted by Major Retta Gray, with the groom's friend David Ayres taking the post of best man and day centre volunteer Richard Everest giving the bride away.

The happy couple were joined by friends, family and day centre volunteers for the big day which included a reception at The Bull in Ninfield.

Michael said: "I am a lucky man, particularly after the set backs I have had. It took me weeks to pluck up the courage to ask but when I did I got the right answer."

June said they were looking forward to married life together.
