Staff from The Flower Shop, in Wick Street, have been bowled over by the generosity of their customers who helped them raise £710 for St Barnabas House hospice, in Goring.

The sum managed to beat last year’s total by £50 – something which thrilled shop owner Michelle Bly, who has worked at the florists for more than two decades.

She said: “As this was the same day as Wick’s Christmas light switch-on event, we really got into the festive spirit and all members of staff dressed up in Christmas costumes.

“A great day was had by all and we were all so pleased with the amount raised.

“I am really touched by all the support I have had from all of my staff, family, friends and customers, it would not have been possible without them.”

A ‘steady flow’ of people came in to lend a helping hand to the festive fundraiser, Michelle added.

Cash-generating schemes included a raffle and a children’s lucky dip, each packed full of great
prizes. Michelle wanted to thank everyone who donated.
