Wick man admits child sex charges

A WICK man has admitted 15 charges, including child sex offences and making, possessing and distributing indecent images of children.

John Churchley, 56, of Belloc Road, pleaded guilty to the charges at Chichester Crown Court.

His co-defendant, David Keen, 27, of Bognor, denied 22 similar charges and his case was adjourned to Lewes Crown Court, for what is expected to be a three to four week trial, starting on March 29.

Churchley will be sentenced at the end of the trial.

Among the charges admitted by Churchley was one of possessing 45,524 indecent images of children.

Keen denied a charge of possessing 5,696 indecent images of children.

Dates on the charges ranged from 2002 to the beginning of this year.

A total of six boys were named in the charges, but their identities cannot be revealed.

A number of the charges were joint offences, allegedly involving both men.

Churchley and Keen were remanded in custody by Miss Recorder C. Laing.

She agreed to psychiatric and pre-sentence reports being prepared on Churchley, following an application by his barrister.
