The festival returns to Shoreham Airport for the third time on Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10, this year.

Organisers SJM Concerts have arranged a consultation meeting for residents on Thursday, March 30, at the Shoreham Centre from 6pm.

Residents will able to speak to festival organisers and staff who will be working in traffic management, noise management and airport management – as well as police.

A spokesperson said: “The evening will take the format of the traditional school parents evening, so there will be several tables with the experts in their field staffing their particular table.

“You do not therefore have to spend the entire evening listening to things you feel of no relevance to you – simply go to the areas of concern and talk to the relevant representatives.”

Joss Loader, chair of Shoreham Beach Residents’ Association and Marine Ward councillor, stressed the need for the consultation to be meaningful, with organisers noting residents’ concerns.

“Despite a lot of initial concern and worry, the Wildlife Festival has passed off relatively successfully during its first two years but noise levels are an ongoing concern,” she said.

“This year promises to be different with the Friday night slot and it’s important that the organisers offer meaningful consultation and take on board residents’ concerns, particularly relating to traffic problems on a working weekday and event management generally.”

She said she would like to see ‘even better communication’.

“In particular people need to know how to complain and to whom, and that their issues will be listened to and resolved wherever possible, swiftly and efficiently,” she said.

An appeal to impose lower noise level limits on the festival, put forward by the Shoreham Society in 2015 after the first Wild Life Festival, was rejected by councillors.

More than 35,000 people attended the festival last year.

This year’s headline acts have been revealed as Brighton-based Fatboy Slim, singer Jess Glynne and hip hop artist Dizzee Rascal.

Other acts to perform include Sussex-born Rag’n’Bone Man, grime artist Stormzy and rapper Wiley.
