Workmen arrived in the London Road store on Monday to begin its transformation into the new retailing outlet. It is due to open in October.

"It is a very popular store and will be a very welcome addition to the town centre.
"It will be an enormous boost to have them here and it is also good news because it means jobs are being created."
The confirmation of Wilkinson choosing Bognor comes just over six months since the closure of Woolworths in the precinct's largest store left a big gap in the town centre. It also cost 50 jobs.

A statement on its website says: "As a high street shop, we feel it's our duty to play a part in creating and retaining vibrant and successful city centres and suburbs.
"We invest in areas that some other major retailers have ignored, and choose to open stores in the high street rather than out of town so we remain at the heart of your local community."
