Will the rainclouds clear for Airbourne?

With the first day of Airbourne grounded by heavy rain and thunderstorms, visitors and organisers will be hoping for a brighter forecast for the next three days.

Today’s poor weather has caused disarray at the popular airshow, and across Eastbourne.

The Arndale centre was evacuated (click here for the full story), a house caught fire after being hit by lightning (click here) and much of East Sussex is under water (click here).

Thankfully though, the weather is set to improve, staying warm for most of the weekend.

Met office forecasters predict Friday will be cloudy with a chance of rain for most of the day, but could become warm during brighter spells.

However, Friday evening and afternoon could see thundery showers return to the skies.

Wind speeds should remain reasonably light through most of Friday day and visibility is expected to be good.

On Saturday, a sunny morning will give way to a cloudier afternoon, with temperatures holding at around 16°c for most of the day.

Saturday will be windier than Friday but remains relatively light and visibility is good.

A dry but cloudy day, Sunday will see temperatures stay at around 18°c.

Cloud cover will be heavier than Saturday with poorer visibility becoming overcast by 7pm.
