Selsey's promenade to the east, East Head at the mouth of Chichester Harbour and Bognor's beautiful seafront will give you sight of the sea and all its ocean birds that pass along the shore throughout the year.

The painting here by Sussex artist Philip Rickman (1891-1982) is one of the finest portraits of our English Channel, with a magical mixture of greens, greys, blues, and siennas among the sharp little waves which soon rear on to the shingle banks.
