CRAFT HOBBIES & ACTIVITIES: Willingdon and Jevington Parish Council are holding a craft, hobbies and activities day from 10am to 4pm on Saturday April 9 at Wannock Village Hall in Jevington Road. Stall holders will be displaying their crafts and hobbies and many of the items will be for sale. Other stall holders will be promoting their activities. TRIANGLE LACE CLUB: will be meeting at Trinity Church Hall in Coppice Avenue from 10am to 2pm on Saturday April 9. This is an active friendly club promoting all forms of bobbin lace. All lace makers of any age are welcome. There is a trade stand with lace supplies and equipment and guidance on the art of lace making can be given. LEIGH BAKER: will be providing the entertainment at The British Queen at 8.30pm on Saturday April 9. There will also be a Karaoke night on Friday April 15.

WHEATSHEAF: The next weekly quiz is at 8.30pm on Tuesday April12. Prizes are awarded to the winning team and also to the teams which come second and third.

MEETINGS: Willingdon and Jevington Parish Council will be holding an events meeting at 7pm on Monday April 11 at Willingdon Community School in Broad Road followed by an amenities meeting at 7.30pm. Please ring 01323 489603 or 01323 489104 for further information. Meetings are open to the public.

The 3 MMM’s: will be holding their next meeting at St Mary’s Church Hall Willingdon on Wednesday April 13 at 8pm - although it’s advisable to get there a bit earlier. It will be a themed evening to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday. Members are encouraged to wear red, white and blue. Do also take a bottle. There will be some snacks provided and some entertainment.

JEVINGTON AND FILCHING WI: meet on the second Thursday of the month at 2pm in Trinity Church Hall Coppice Avenue Willingdon. The next meeting is on April 14 when Brian Waters will be giving a talk entitled ‘Eastbourne Coastal Protection’.

WILLINGDON WI: meets at 2.15pm on the second Thursday of the month at Willingdon Memorial Hall in Church Street. The next meeting is on April 14 when Gilly Halcrow will be giving a talk entitled ‘Whatever happened to Christopher Robin’.

COFFEE MORNING: The British Queen has a coffee morning from 10am to 12pm on the second Thursday of the month. Tea/coffee and cake is just £1.50 and there is a book stall, raffle and bring and buy stall. Why not go along for coffee and a chat on April 14.

THE GARDEN GROWERS: meet on the second Thursday of the month at 6.30pm for 7pm at the Red Lion in Willingdon. The next meeting is on April 14. New members are always welcome.

POLEGATE AND WILLINGDON Local History Society: will be meeting from 7pm to 9pm on Friday April 15 at St John’s Church Hall Polegate. Paul Lendon will be giving a talk entitled ‘On the Busses’. Visitors are welcome. The fee is just £3.

TRINITY DINERS: There was a full house for the Trinity Diners Easter lunch which was delicious. The next lunch at Trinity Church hall in Coppice Avenue Willingdon is on Friday April 15. Doors open at 12 noon. The menu is fruit juice, chicken pie or vegetable pie, creamed potatoes with seasonal vegetables followed by chocolate sponge with chocolate sauce, tea/coffee. Please ring Jennie on 01323 484189 to book your place. Meals are £5.50p.

A JUMBLE SALE: will be held from 10am to 12 noon on Saturday April 16 at St Wilfrid’s Church in Broad Road Willingdon. It is in aid of Networx Eastbourne and St Wilfrid’s Church. Tea/coffee and home-made cakes will be available. Admission is 20p.

A MUSIC RECITAL: will take place at 7.30pm on Monday April 18 at St Mary’s Church Willingdon. Directed by Michael Stumbles, it will include choral items with guest singers and instrumentalists including Susan Lahache (coloratura soprano), Mike Barber (bass/baritone), Gerry Scotford (clarinet) and Valerie Stumbles (piano) and recorders. There will also be various items from the Gibbs String Trio. There is no admission charge. A retiring collection will be made for Children with Cancer.
