PANTOMIME: The performance dates for Willingdon Church Players’ pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk are January 28, 29 and 30, with a matinee on the Saturday. Tickets are now sold out for the Friday and for both performances on the Saturday. However, there are still tickets remaining for the Thursday performance. Prices are £6 for adults and £3 for children up to the age of 16 years. There are also half price tickets for the final dress rehearsal on Wednesday January 27. Please ring 01323 504901 for ticket availability. The pantomime is being staged at Willingdon Memorial Hall in Church Street at 7.30pm. For the dress rehearsal, if you haven’t booked a ticket, you could still obtain them on the night.

FLOWER CLUB: Willingdon Flower Club will be meeting at 2pm today, Friday, at Willingdon Memorial Hall for a practice meeting. For further information please contact Alison Pullinger on 01323 645527.

LOCAL HISTORY: Polegate and Willingdon Local History Society will be meeting from 7pm to 9pm today, Friday, at St John’s Church Hall Polegate. Alan Wenham is the speaker and his talk will be about Eastbourne’s East End. Visitors are welcome. The fee is just £2.

THE BRITISH QUEEN: Loose Change will be entertaining customers at The British Queen at 8.30pm tomorrow, Saturday. Monday is curry night from 6pm to 9pm; Thursday is the weekly quiz night which starts at 9pm and costs £1 to enter or £2 to include chips. Friday is a free pool night from 8pm to midnight and on Sundays there is a free juke box and pool and the meat raffle is at 2pm.

THE WHEATSHEAF: The Grand Benale will be entertaining customers at the Wheatsheaf with popular music covers from 8pm tomorrow, Saturday. Tuesday is the weekly quiz night starting at 8.30pm. It is £1 per person to enter and there are prizes for the teams which come first, second and third. Open mic night at the Wheatsheaf takes place from 8pm on Wednesday evenings and is hosted by Paul Watson, with other talented musicians turning up. It’s different every week and could be your opportunity to get discovered.

LIFESTYLE: Is a sub-section of Willingdon WI and they have a full programme of talks and other events during the year. They meet at Willingdon Memorial Hall on the third Thursday in the month at 2.15pm at a charge of 50p which includes tea and biscuits. Their next meeting is on January 21 when the talk by Mr H Duffin is entitled TV Writer.

THE JPK SUSSEX PROJECT: The January newsletter has just been delivered and the news is all good. The project was formed to provide a supported living centre for people with a learning disability, plus meaningful daytime activities. Willingdon resident Jill Parker MBE and project co-ordinator writes: ‘For years I have been writing here telling you we are making progress but there has been little for you to see. This month is going to be different as with our grateful thanks to everyone who has supported us over the years, I am pleased to tell you that we shall be commencing building and refurbishing the community centre (which was previously the old Edgmond Evangelical Church in Old Town) in April this year. The community centre with its tea room, commercial kitchen, bakery and daisy chain charity shop can commence operating and we will gradually be able to introduce students for training and work experience in hospitality, catering, bakery and retail. It will also raise the profile of JPK and hopefully attract further donors and fundraising so that we will be able to commence building the remainder of the project, being the twenty four residential units and the activity/learning centre, as soon as possible.’
