Webb Family Trio: This month’s Tea Concert at St Thomas’ Church features the Webb family trio which includes Jonathan on the piano, Emmanuel on the violin and Gabriel on the cello. It is their third concert at the Church and the theme is ‘A Classical Journey’ with pieces by Mozart, Haydn, Brahms and Beethoven. The concert is tomorrow (Saturday) at 3pm and as usual entry is free (donations gratefully accepted) and afterwards refreshments will be on sale.

FOAM Cellar Tours: The Friends of the Ancient Monuments of Winchelsea have begun their summer Cellar Tours this weekend. For tomorrow and Sunday the Tours start at 10.50 for 11am and you will need to meet at the Town Well in Castle Street. Bookings can be taken for these popular events by contacting 01797 222629 and the cost is £5 p.p. for the 90 minute tour with proceeds to FOAM. Also you will need to wear sensible shoes for the steep, stone steps and bring a torch.

Musical evening: The Summer Soiree is a joyous evening of Light Entertainment and Musical Cameos presented by the Winchelsea Singers and Surprise Guests, taking place tomorrow June 27th at 7pm in the New Hall. It is essential to reserve your table by contacting 01797 223159 and tickets are £20 each which includes a glass of bubbly on arrival, two course meal, coffee and there will be a cash bar at hand.

Winchelsea Arts 2015-16: A series of six musical concerts is set to take place over the year at St Thomas’ Church. On Saturday July 4th at 7.30pm the Pegasus Chamber Choir are returning to perform ‘Our King went Forth to Normandy’. This is a programme of glorious church music exploring Anglo-French relations after 1415 which were partly instigated by the victory at Agincourt. The 600th anniversary of the Battle of Agincourt in October 25th 1415 is part of a year of celebrations marking significant dates in history. Agincourt is regarded as one of the greatest military victories when, despite being outnumbered the English soldiers led by Henry V overcame a French army four times its size. ‘And if to live, The fewer men, the greater share of honour. God’s will! I pray thee, wish not one man more.’ (From Henry V’s famous speech by Shakespeare) Against the odds it was Henry’s archers with their longbows firing a deadly storm of arrows onto the French that led to their defeat. So finally, weighed down by their armour the French were overpowered as they attempted to retreat through a slippery quagmire of mud. The tickets for the concert are £12 each (£6 under 18s) from Winchelsea Farm Kitchen. Pegasus is an award winning London based chamber choir that has featured on BBC television and radio, Channel 4 and Classic FM.

Uplifting Songs: Sing Up Sunday is held every 2nd and 4th Sunday in the month and on June 28th the group meets again in St Richard’s Church. If you need your spirits uplifted singing joyful songs often helps and as usual local musical professionals will be there to direct the singing starting with fun warm ups. The sessions are between 4.30 and 5.30pm at a cost of £1 and the afternoon will end with cake and soft drinks.

Cash Bingo: Every other Wednesday there is an opportunity for eyes down at the Cash Bingo evening, and the next is on Wednesday July 1st. Everybody is welcome to come along and participate as from 7.15pm in the Community Hall. Refreshments and a raffle will be available during the evening.
