Winchelsea Beach village voice

The Annual Parish Assembly organised by Icklesham Parish Council will be held on Monday 21st May at 7.15 pm in Winchelsea New Hall. This is not a council meeting but an opportunity for all residents to meet and discuss any matters of concern and how to deal with them.

Icklesham Parish Council has been working with local residents and Southern Water to find out why parts of Winchelsea Beach are flooding and how to prevent it in future. The Council hopes to let residents know more about this and if you are affected do contact IPC. Another item of interest to local residents is that the Council is considering quotations to refurbish the bus shelters in the area.

IPC is also considering recreation facilities in the parish and has provided funds to start a youth club. If this is of interest to you please let the Council know. It appears that young people are keen to have useful facilities, as soon as possible, while they are still young enough to enjoy them. Following the recent evening event at Icklesham when teenagers were consulted on play equipment approximately 30 attended, 22 gave an opinion and 16 favoured a skate park. As a result of this it may be possible to have temporary skate boarding and cycle ramp equipment for young people at Icklesham Recreation Ground for the school summer holidays. In the meantime IPC is organising the funding for more permanent facilities.
