For St George’s Day on Monday 23rd April there will be an Evening Service in honour of our patron saint at 6.30 pm in St Thomas’s Church. The preacher will be the rural dean The Rev’d Canon David Frost rector of St Mary’s Rye. Attending the service will be the Mayor and Corporation in ceremonial dress and at 6.20 pm a wreath is to be laid at the grave of the late F.C. Inderwick M.P. Q.C. During the 19th century Inderwick ‘saved’ Winchelsea and its Corporation from near extinction and a brief commemoration will be given at his grave on the anniversary of his birth. The choirs of St Thomas’s and Icklesham Church will combine for this service.
