Winds of 80mph to batter Sussex coast

COASTAL areas in West Sussex could be hit by 80mph winds tomorrow (February 14).

The Met Office has said the wind will pick up from 6pm tomorrow until 10am on Saturday.

“The public should be aware of the potential for disruption to travel as well as trees being uprooted and possible damage to buildings,” said a West Sussex County Council spokesman.

“As these very strong winds will be accompanied by large waves along the coast be aware of the potentially dangerous conditions and also possible coastal flooding.

“The public are advised to keep away from the coastline during this period, and to secure or store items such as garden furniture.”
