Winning a prize for Mother's Day

Youngsters have the chance to take part in a Mother's Day competition organised by Carroll's Florist in Sidley.

Pupils from local primary schools have been invited to send in their picture of a mother or loved one.

The winning three entries will be announced and a presentation will be made on Friday February 29 at Carroll's on Ninfield Road at 4pm.

Town Mayor Cllr Paul Lendon will meet the three equal winners and present them each with a hand-tied aqua of flowers, which they will then be able to take home, plus their artwork which will be specially framed.

All entries have to be in by Monday February 25 to be judged - Mother's Day falls early this year, on Sunday March 2.

Cherie Carroll said: "This is a competition for all Bexhill primary schools - St Mary Magdalene, Pebsham, St Peter And St Paul, Little Common, Chantry, Buxton Drive (Sidley CP) and All Saints.

"We just thought it would be a nice idea for the children...money is quite tight at the moment, so a lot of children might not have any money to spend, and we thought we would give them the option of drawing a picture and having the chance to win something special to give.

"We wanted to give back to the children."
