A YOUNG baker from Jempsons is helping to keep the Peasmarsh family’s long tradition going.

Ben Vaughan, who works at the Jempsons superstore in Peasmarsh, has recently been awarded IPQ Level 3 as recognition of his specialist baking industry skills.

An IPQ (Improve Proficiency Qualification) is a work-based alternative method of skill development and qualification achievement.

Delivered as part of the Government Apprenticeship/Modern Apprenticeship programme, they comprise of learning and development modules and re-enforce core skills.

Stephen Jempson, co-owner of the family owned independent supermarket group, said: “We have been working with National Bakery Training for six years now, and have found their training courses suit the needs of our business”.

He continued: “Ben is the first candidate to achieve the IPQ Level 3 with us, so congratulations to him and all those at National Bakery Training for their help and assistance.”

Henry Jefferies, a Training Advisor for National Bakery Training, added: “Ben has done a good job with very good evidence and written work, he has developed his skill and has been a good guy to work with, I wish him a long and successful career in the industry.”

“Ben Vaughan commented: ‘I’m delighted to have completed my Level 3 IPQ, and wish to take it further.”

He continued: “Baking has been an interest since childhood and I’m glad that I have found a job within the industry at Jempsons.”

Jempsons have been baking bread at their Peasmarsh store since 1935.

Jempsons also sells bread and baking products at its Rye bakery.
