Witness appeal following burglaries in Barnham and Eastergate

Police are asking witnesses to come forward following two burglaries in Barnham and Eastergate.

Sussex Police said the burglaries happened on Thursday (September 3).

A spokesman added: “Officers were called to an address in Barnham Road, Barnham just before 1pm.

“The owner had left the house for less than an hour and returned to find it had been ransacked.”

A silver pill box worth around £500 and a gold Seiko watch with a brown leather strap were taken from the property.

Police were also called to a house in Fontwell Avenue, Eastergate on the same day.

The owners returned home at around 5.20pm having left for work at about 9am to find their home had been burgled.

Some jewellery, foreign currency and ten King George V gold sovereigns were taken.

Detective Constable Emma Fields said: “Because of their close proximity to each other, we believe it is likely that these two burglaries are linked.

“There is a very specific time frame for the incident in Barnham and therefore we would urge anyone who saw something suspicious in the area between midday and 12.45pm to get in touch.”
