Wizard wheeze to help children

ALL the while there was a Wizard in front of the counter in Sketchley's Western Road cleaners the coins kept plopping into his cauldron.

Local man and staff member Adrian Bodle is undertaking a trek in Peru to raise money for the Children Of Today charity.

On Saturday, Sketchley's staged a fun day to raise money to sponsor Adrian.

The charity provides money to buy equipment and provide support for children with disabilities in the UK.

Balloons outside the cleaners provided the eye-catching incentive for the public - and particularly the children - to pop in and meet Adrian in his Wizard guise and to take part in competitions with sweets for prizes.

By early afternoon, manageress Elaine Wragg was able to report: "We have about 40 in the cauldron so far and we have had a lot of money in the 'Guess how many pieces in the machines' competition."

Also supporting the fund-raising occasion were area managers Sylvia Sime and Oliver Dunn.
