Woman airlifted to hospital following trailer collision

A TRAILER which came free from the car which it was towing collided with a Land Rover heading in the opposite direction leaving a woman in hospital with serious head injuries.

A 44-year-old women from Hooe, near Battle, had to be cut from the wreckage of her Land Rover following the accident, which took place just before 2pm on Tuesday (November 26) on the B2204 at The Stream in Catsfield – between Skinners Lane and The Green.

She was left nursing a double-break to her lower jaw, facial cuts and had to be airlifted to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton by an emergency crew from the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance.

A second Hooe woman, a 55-year-old passenger in the Land Rover, escaped unhurt.

The four wheeled trailer was being pulled by a Nissan Navara heading south west being driven by a 25-year-old Battle man, who was also uninjured.

The road was closed for two hours while the incident was dealt with.

Traffic was diverted and local schools were informed so parents could be told to avoid the area on the usually busy school run. Police want to hear from anyone who saw what happened or has useful information.
