Woman hospitalised after falling 18 feet in Hastings

A woman was taken to hospital after accidentally falling '˜16 to 18 feet' outside her Hastings home on Saturday (February 27).

The 34-year-old was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital to be treated for back and head injuries after the fall on Mount Pleasant Road at 8.25pm.

A 53-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm, but after interview and further enquiries, she was released from custody yesterday and no further action will be taken against her.

South East Coast Ambulance Service alerted police to the incident where the woman had fallen from outside her home into the basement area.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance was also mobilised at 7.50pm and helped treat her injuries.

The injured woman was still in hospital yesterday afternoon but her injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
