The woman, who asked to remain anonymous, told the County Times: “I am shocked, I don’t know what to do.

“It was pouring with rain and I had my hood up. He rode off and I ran after him and shouted at him.

“If I held onto it he might have pulled me over.”

She said a woman with a small child stopped to help her and phoned the police.

“I thought that was very nice of her as it was pouring with rain.

“It has never happened in my life. Luckily I had put my purse in my carrier bag and my key was in my pocket.

“I have only lived here for a year. I used to live in Devon and I should have stayed.”

She added she wanted to raise awareness to make sure Christmas shoppers stay wary when visiting the town.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact police on [email protected] quoting serial 991 of 15/1
