Woman pulled from sea in Peacehaven sadly dies

A woman who was pulled from the sea in Peacehaven following a multi-agency emergency operation has sadly died.

Police, the ambulance service, lifeboat crews and air ambulance scrambled to the scene of the tragic incident on Tuesday, July 28.

A spokesman for Sussex Police said:

“A woman who had been pulled from the sea off South Coast Road, Peacehaven, at about 6pm on Tuesday, July 28, has sadly died.

“The woman was initially treated by paramedics at the scene and was then taken by ambulance to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton.

“Her next of kin have been informed and the death has been referred to the coroner.”

Brighton RNLI was launched to the incident shortly after 6pm.

A spokesman said: “The lifeboat arrived on scene and quickly located the casualty who was taken ashore by our volunteers to the coastguard and paramedic teams and transported to the Royal Sussex County Hospital.”

South East Coast Ambulance Service was approached for a comment at the time of the incident.
