Woman punched and robbed in Bognor Regis town centre

POLICE are looking for a suspect who snatched a woman’s handbag before punching her in the head.

A witness appeal was launched this afternoon (October 14) after the assault in the early hours of Saturday morning (October 10) in Bognor Regis.

“The victim was walking down Belmont Street at around 4.45am after a night out with friends when she was approached by a man who grabbed her bag, causing the contents to spill out onto the pavement,” said a Sussex Police spokesman.

“The suspect put the belongings back into the bag before punching the victim in the head and running off down Lennox Street towards the seafront.”

Police described the man as white, around 5’8”, in his early thirties, of medium build with short dark hair and a pale complexion. He is believed to have an Eastern European accent.

Detective Constable Andrea Watts said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen the suspect before or after the robbery.

“Witnesses can email [email protected] or call 101 quoting reference 0250 of October 10.”
