Woman terrified by midnight intruder

A TERRIFIED Barnhorn Road resident called the police and fire brigade when she awoke to find an intruder in her home in the early hours of October 31.

The elderly resident was woken by the sound of the intruder loading furniture from her Little Common home into a van parked outside.

The confused resident dialled 999 and summoned police and firefighters because she thought she also smelled smoke.

By the time they arrived the intruders had gone. The woman was shocked but uninjured.

Details of what was stolen and descriptions of the intruders were not available as the Observer went to press.
