Work will start soon on the new clubhouse at Seaford Head Golf Course, it was announced this week.

Golf club owners Seaford Town Council said it had now met all the planning conditions it needed to before work was allowed to begin on the building.

The state of the art facility will attract more golfers, corporate events and provide the town with another much needed larger venue.

Town council leader Ian White said: “It has been a long process to get to this stage, but I am pleased that construction can now commence and look forward to having a superb new facility in the town.”

The contractors who will build the clubhouse, Cheesmur Building Contractors Ltd, will be on site in the next couple of weeks to start the works to make connections for the temporary accommodation.

The town council said this would result in some minor disruption to car parking.

The exact date for the start of construction is not known at this stage, but the town council said it would release this information soon.

The town council said the building would cost £1,717,438, which would be funded by a 25 year loan of £1,717,000 .

The clubhouse will have a flexible space which can be used by the public and local organisations to hold a variety of events.

It will have a full catering kitchen and bar with an outside balcony, offering visitors panoramic views of Seaford Bay.

The old clubhouse, which was not falling apart, will be demolished.

The new facility could mean increased revenue and the profits would be ploughed back into the town.
