Workplace award for Horsham’s Job Centre Plus

Despite having a small team in Horsham, Job Centre Plus has been working with staff to help them build healthier lifestyles.

Alison Finn, from Job Centre Plus in Horsham, said: “We know staff work best when they are well and feel supported to do a good job. We have used a variety of wellbeing initiatives to get everyone involved and most of these have had no cost but brought great benefits.

“With the help of our volunteer coordinator, Kathy Gallie, we have organised free NHS health checks and worked through several programmes over the last year to address healthy eating, getting physically active, reduce stress and sleep problems.

“Our staff also have access to some very good health information and our safety standards have all been thoroughly checked. We definitely feel fit for the future and want to carry on improving.”

The Horsham Healthy Workplace Award is open to any organisation in the Horsham district and brings free help and support to build a healthy workforce and with that enable healthy performance.

Sue Rogers (Con, Steyning), Horsham District Council’s cabinet member for a safer and healthier district, said: “Efforts from staff have rightly been rewarded with a Gold Award at their first application, they have such a positive approach and it is a real inspiration to any organisation.

“This shows what a small team can achieve to sustain its most precious resource without spending a fortune. I wish them well for the future.”
