World Cup hero Josh signs his shirt for Bexhill charity

IN the euphoria following England's dramatic World Cup win a rugby shirt signed by a member of the victorious team is worth a lot of money.

That's why Bexhill animal sanctuary founder Barby Keel is absolutely delighted.

A sanctuary supporter used family contacts to persuade the England and Wasps full-back Josh Lewsey (pictured) to sign his shirt and donate it to the charity.

He went on to play his full part in England's triumph over hosts Australia on Saturday.

Now all Barby and her helpers have to do is decide how best to exploit their windfall.

An auction - possibly an internet auction - was one early suggestion. Barby said this week: "The sister of one of our girls lives opposite Josh's home. She asked him to sign one of his Wasps shirts before they won the World Cup.

"How's that for pre-planning?

"We are delighted to have it, and so grateful. The question now is, what is best to do with it?"
