Builder Shane Smith created England Loopy, based on Chas and Dave’s hit Snooker Loopy.

He sought permission from the cockney duo to go public but did not receive it in time for him to release it for the World Cup.

A while later, he saw a young man on television called Jonjo Heuerman, who since the age of eight has worked tirelessly to raise money through the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.

Jonjo, 14, and his mother Donna, have set up the website fornannyandbobby.com to raise awareness of his efforts.

Shane said: “I decided I wanted to help this charity and the song could be an ideal link.

“I decided to rewrite the lyrics and release it to tie in with UEFA Euro 2016 and linked it with the charity, so every song sold will give more money to this insirational individual.”

The song has been produced as if it is an engaging conversation between friends, so Shane involved a couple of his workmates, Oran Guile and Tony Troncone.

Dan Leggett played all the instruments and produced the current version of England Loopy, which was recorded at his flat using home studio equipment.

The song is available to download from iTunes, Google Play, Amazon, Spotify and Deezer.
