Nigel Watson, who will be representing the Anchored in Worthing micropub, is one of just 12 competitors to make it to the final held on June 24.

He finished in the top three finalists last year and this year he returns in the hope of taking the coveted UK Board Games Championship title.

After securing his spot, Nigel said: “It was fantastic to make it to the grand final last year and finish in the top three, but this time I’m hoping to win the title and take it home for Worthing.”

He joined hundreds of people from up and down the country last month as they battled it out in the heat rounds staged in micropubs throughout the UK.

Nigel will once-again be the only player from Sussex appearing in the grand final of the UK Board Games Championship.

Organisers Pork Farm, who created the Board Games Championships, have now whittled the hundreds of contestants down to the top 12 scorers.

Michael Holton, brand and marketing manager at Pork Farms, said: “After the biggest heats we’ve seen take place during our championships, we are thrilled to announce our finalists.

“The camaraderie and competition shown throughout all our participating micropubs has been fantastic, and we are now keen to crown our champion.

“If last year’s grand final is anything to go off, we are very excited to see the events of the day and re-create the brilliant atmosphere achieved last year.”
