Worthing Pubwatch and police near to ending dispute

A NINE-month dispute between Worthing Pubwatch and Sussex Police is nearing an end after ‘positive’ talks between the two parties.

The organisations have not been co-operating since February, following disagreements about the police’s recommendation to revoke the licence of Liquid Lounge, in Chatsworth Road.

Since then, Pubwatch claimed it had been denied access to photographs of troublemakers – a crucial tool for door staff.

But subject to the group’s members consenting to sign an agreement, the two groups will work together again from next month.

Pubwatch chairwoman Diane Guest said: “It is really positive that we are reopening the lines of communication.

“I had a meeting at the station with the new licensing officer for West Sussex and Inspector Allan Lowe to go through the new agreement about the use of photos and information.

“As I only saw the agreement on the same day as our last meeting, our members will now vote on it at our next meeting.”
