Worthing's new mayor appointed

GORING councillor Nick John has been officially declared the 89th Mayor of Worthing.

A large crowd of local dignitaries, fellow councillors and guests gathered for the ceremony at the Town Hall.

In his inaugural address, Mr John said he was "very, very proud" to be mayor and added: "I hope I can do the post justice."

Worthing's first ever youth mayor was also unveiled at the ceremony.

Hannah McGrath, 15, a pupil at Davison High School, was presented with a plaque in commemoration of her appointment.

She said: "I'm looking forward to building a brilliant foundation for many more years of youth mayors."
