Worthing's wood fairy tale

A mystical film about Worthing's washed-up wood will have its premiere this week.

The short film, created by Worthing-based 4Below Productions, is called The Ice Prince and parts are played by local actors as well as a selection of puppets.

Co-director Ann Feloy said: "We have made a mystical character called Ice Prince, which is a magical forest which comes ashore, bringing a winter fairy tale to Worthing."

The Ice Prince is being commissioned by Worthing Arts Council, which gave 4Below 1,000 to make the film as part of a week of events to mark the first anniversary of the timber hitting.

Experimental puppetry

Ann said: "It is a mix of live action and puppetry. Some of the film is also in black and white, so it is a really experimental piece of work.

"We have really involved local people, with Northbrook College helping to create the puppets and local actors including Mark Newnham taking part. It is a real testament to the talent in Worthing."

The film will be shown at the Ritz cinema on January 24 and 25, at 1.30pm.
